Celebrity Button Art Book

Karen Gammon, a retired art teacher from Staffordshire, has put together a charity art book to raise money for AICR and 5 other charities.

Celebrity Button Art was launched on November 12th, 2010 at the Plas des Legende at the Ramada Hotel in Cannock, Staffordshire.

The book is a continuation of a fundraising project started at the beginning of the new millennium.

It contains 240 pieces of artwork based around a button, collected from celebrities around the world. Contributors include actors, actresses, royalty, Royal Academicians, celebrity chefs, singers, authors, politicians and designers. The artwork has been collected over the last nine years.

During the production of this book 14 celebrities have sadly passed away and Karen hopes that the book is a fitting tribute to their contribution. Those contributors no longer with us are Ronnie Barker, Jeremy Beadle, Tony Hart, Sir Nigel Hawthorne, John Inman, Lord Lichfield, Desmond Llewelyn, George Melly, Peggy Mount, Richard Todd, Richard Whiteley, Dame Barbara Cartland, Sir Norman Wisdom and Simon MacCorkindale.

The book is 120 pages long, contains 340 colour pictures and has a foreword by Bonnie Tyler. It contains a short history of the button, button assemblages made from tens of thousands of buttons and lots of other information that is related to buttons.

The launch was accompanied by an exhibition of all the celebrity artwork and button assemblages.

You can buy your copy of the book through the Celebrity Button Art website.
