Sponsorship

Every year, thousands of people take part in a range of sponsored events with the aim of having a great time, and raising some money for charity. For many years AICR supporters have taken part in the Flora London Marathon and Great North Run - they have trekked across deserts, abseiled from tall buildings or gone white water rafting to boost our funds.

In March 2008 Dave Cook and three of his friends took part in the One Ball Rally. After being treated for testicular cancer, 24yr old Dave decided to embark on the journey of a lifetime driving from Ormskirk in the UK to Istanbul in Turkey in a Black Cab!

Among those blogging for AICR was Tom Watson MP, Member of Parliament for West Bromwich East.

In 2006, Phil Goddard set off from New York and walked all the way to Los Angeles, finishing at Venice Beach on the 6th May 2007.

In July 2003, 2005, 2006 and 2007 (the Bloggers took a rest in 2004) AICR was delighted to be chosen as one of the official charities to benefit from the annual Blogathon.  Among the many people from all over the world blogging for AICR in 2003 was Tom Watson MP, Member of Parliament for West Bromwich East. Tom is well known in political and Internet circles as the UK's first Blogging MP. To show how committed Tom is to the cause, he even updated his weblog during the visit of none other than Cherie Booth QC, wife of Prime Minister Tony Blair.

The Blogathon is a sponsored event which entails the participants updating their blog every 30 minutes over a 24 hour period. The 2006 event raised more than $100,000 for a variety of charities. Last year's Blogathon took place on July 28th 2007 and once more AICR was delighted to have been chosen as one of the suggested charities.

So, if you are planning to take part in a sponsored event, why not do it on behalf of AICR? Drop us a line - we'd love to hear from you.
