David Tennant

The Association for International Cancer Research was delighted to welcome actor David Tennant as our latest Ambassador back in 2007.

David is probably better known for his role as the Doctor in the award winning BBC programme Doctor Who. David made the commitment after he heard of the ground-breaking work the charity funds around the world.

David said: “I know only too well that cancer strikes without regard to age or race, country or creed, fame or fortune. I believe AICR’s approach to funding research, wherever in the world it is taking place, is at the forefront of the battle to bring cancer under control and I am proud to have been asked to become an ambassador.”

Chief Executive, Norman Barrett is delighted the award winning actor accepted the invitation to help raise awareness of the charity and its research. “Cancer claims the lives of hundreds of thousands of people across the globe every year. Yet work undertaken by AICR and others is making a difference in identifying the causes and the new treatments that will make a difference. As The Doctor, David is expert at fighting threats to mankind: we hope his support will help us in the biggest medical fight we face – the fight against cancer.”
