Phil, I came accross your blog looking for a charity to make a donation in the name of my wedding guests, in honnor of so many people I know and have known who struggled through cancer. I think what you are doing is amazingly great and it warms up my heart to witness your commitment to the cause. People like you make this world a better place...
Good luck and best wishes.
It looks like you're almost there!

We want to commend you for doing such a beautiful thing and living life for the moment. My husband & I are considering a walk across America from Los Angeles to New York to bring awareness for victims and survivors of sexual assault and domestic abuse. We are in the research stages right now. We would like the walk to bring awareness and to benefit various charities across the U.S. We also feel that it would allow us the spontanaeity and fullness of life. We would love any advice you could give us.

Sterling Effort Phil, I am in the process of planning a trip around the world solo on motorbike from Melbourne to London, then on to the US, down to Chile and back to Melbourne. The first stage will be here to London leaving this time next year, and depending on the support, I'll just keep on keeping on.
I would love to hear any tips you might have for me, and to meet with you when I get to the UK.
Cheers,
Simon

Hi Phil, I'm here in WA to see my grand daughter Katie now nearly three weeks old! We were in Melbourne when she was born, she came early! Bill returned to Uk on Monday so no doubt you will hear from him shortly but our being away may explain the absence of contact. You look as tho you are doing fine and not long to go now. Well done, I'm so proud of you. After I've left this message I will read your road blog and catch up on any news. The amount you have raised so far is amazing,an unbelievable success. CONGRATULATIONS! I really do mean that, I find it very hard to believe that one man has touched so many people in walking. Just walking. But more than just walking -- for what and whom you are walking. Phil, I respect you very much for what you have accomplished, for the kind of man you are, and for remaining true to the cause through all the adversities, blisters, heat, cold, miles of loneliness, and all the other travails. I keep checking your blog at regualr intervals Phil - am SO pleased you have now seen the LA sign and are entering California. And yes - what's a mere 350 miles to a man like you! Seriously though - it is clearly just gruelling at times and my heart and energy go out to you. Today is World Voice Day - I did a frustratingly fatuous 3 minute BBC Radio Bristol interview, but at least it is another mention. I thought of Jayne as know she would have been there on air, sparkling away. I am still writing my voice book and you will finish before I do. I imagine I will feel a bit like you when you get to LA - thank goodness it's over but oh what an amazing experience and how sad it's over... But let's get there first. Love and support from Christina

Hey, Phil,
Just thought I'd let you know that Aunt Sue had both knees replaced last Fri the 6th of April, She is rehabing now at a nursing home very near me and will be home in about 8-10 days. She may become a good walker in about a year. She has not been able to do so in many years. I cannot remember the last time she was comfortable walking in an indoor mall, let alone outside on a trail! She sends her love and support to you, as I do. Love, Mom, Nana, Mary

Phil - I enjoyed meeting you at one of your stops in the Tucson area.
I checked out food, accommodations etc along I-8 west and I think your decision to follow the I-10 corridor to Los Angeles is indeed the better one (albeit not as scenic).
Truly best wishes.

As I mentioned, I played at a Burns' Supper a few weeks ago and was hoping to raise some money for your fund from the raffle. Unfortunately the organisers had already decided that they would be raising money for a local kids' hospice so I didn't think anything would come of it. Well, I'm glad to say the pub owner dropped by my house the other day to tell me there is £60 behind the bar for you as they decided to split the money they raised. I'll pick it up next time I'm in (which is very infrequent these days unfortunately). Talk to you soon, Jack @ AICR.

Hi Phil- just to say well done for keeping going! This last stretch must be difficult plodding along the interstate- but it will give you time to start adjusting to life after the long walk & to smell the proverbial roses. We are all looking forward to seeing you soon in the UK - and are very proud of you! Speak soon, LOL Pippa xx

That latest photo looks so much like a railway line running alongside the sea, hard to believe that it's so far from the coast and that the water is lying on desert terrain. The real coast is getting so much closer now, you've done well.... keep it up. St Paddys Day looked great fun, the pic of you in the police car was the first time I've seen you in the front seat of one, must be so much more comfortable than being locked up in the back!

24/03/2007 03:19:53
Hey, I'm Pam's brother, Mark. She and I were on the phone today and she told me your website address. I had heard about you and your journeys through my Mom, Mary, also. Anyway, I'm reading all the blogs and checking out the pictures and loving it! Needless to say, it's extremely impressive, and I would love to do something like this someday, although I'd do it on a bike. I'm not THAT hardcore! I look forward to meeting you one day. Take care and happy and safe travels!

Hope the boots are getting more comfy.
Good luck on the last segment of your fantastic trip.

Phil, I want to let you know Sue and I are thinking of you as you trek across the barren deserts. When we were 11 and 13 we moved from the beautiful city of Los Alamos, NM to the west side of Albuquerque. It was a city of about 100,000 at that time and we moved to the very edge of town. There was nothing between us and the west coast but desert. People who lived there always said we lived "on the mesa" True, it was on a rise up from the Rio Grande River and we got the sand storms with 80 mph winds that stung our legs so bad that they would bleed. Our mother would try to pick us up from the bus stop (when she had the car) about a half-mile from our house when we would have one of those storms. We would be breathing dusty sand even in the house and a film of dust would be on everything inside the house. We didn't stay there very long, we moved to the east side of town where the wind was not as bad. All you can do in those situations is hunker down and hang on! Love, Mary

Hi, Phil. I was in Houston, TX on my birthday (Monday, Feb. 5) for my bi-annual cancer check-up. Everything checked out grrrrrreat, as Tony the Tiger would say. I'm so fortunate that people like you work to stamp out cancer, as I'm in the small percentage who has been cured of not one, but two cancers. Keep up the good work. We're all traveling with you in our hearts. Have fun at the Mardi Gras when you return to N.O. next week. Hope to meet you soon. Lots of love, Aunt Sue

Phil, I noticed on you map you didn't have Caneyville on there. Ha ha. I know you have been there, Caneyville, KY, you stayed with us.
I wanted you to know that I also celebrated, Jayne. Along with my Dad. who died with cancer on Jan. 29, 1990. This year was a lot different for me. I spent the living life as if i thought the both of them would instead of crying like i have done for years. your story has really helped me as i told you before. So keep going and stay safe. Miss you lots.

On my birthday, October 6th you were in Murray, KY. I was wearing a shoulder immobilizer because I had surgery 10 days prior, but I was trying to enjoy myself eating catfish, hushpuppies, coleslaw and being waited on by our friends who own the restaurant. I was in the midst of all the sympathy I could possibly wallow in as I cashed in on the food, love and friends. The only good memory I have of the past 5 months of recovery. Shortly after that you were within 35 miles of us if you were on highway 70. I didn't start rehab until near Christmas. You were past us by then.

I have just got back from a few days working in Wilmington, Delaware, checked out your blog and saw the recent newspaper interview - which prompted me to share some reflections on friendly Americans.
It always strikes me, everytime I go there - they do 'service' so well I always think. When people serve you in restaurants or shops they have a friendly, relaxed manner and seem genuinely happy to help, without in any way being obseqious or demeaning themselves. On leaving an electronics shop with a bag full of cameras and ipods, my colleague was stopped by a store assistant who asked if he could check the receipts - and it was all done so pleasantly, without a hint of officialdom. When buying clothes in a store (you can see we did a lot of shopping!) the checkout assistant asked if I wanted to apply for a store card. When I said no, because I live in the UK, she said: "You're visiting, oh that's nice," in a tone of voice which suggested the subtext: "I'm really pleased you're visiting us, I hope you have a lovely time".
And I love it when they call me ma'am!

Hi Phil back again as just read your most recent blog (not really sure of all this jargon but guess that's right!).Am so impressed with distances you are covering in a day, having made such a fuss about doing the West Highland Way last year!! However you talking about a book being started as to when the whheels should fall off your stroller reminded me of the friends, Sandy and John , who were also walking WHW but she has MS and so she had her wheelchair with them!! There were some very interesting occasions when they had problems with wheels falling off and had to be quite inventive. It's very humbling to see others achieving so much when there's a greater cost involved. Well done you....we are so proud of you (and I miss you!!)Love daff

Day by day, I see your pictures look more and more like the place I call home. It's actually exciting. I'm 374 km South of El Paso and, rest assured, you have a home this side of the border if you care to get memorably sidetracked again. I promise you, it is worth the effort. Anyway, I think you rock, man. What you're doing is beautiful all over. You're reminding us the journey is made with will and guts. I pray you get the most of that infinite highway. Here's to you, and to the woman that has inspired so many of us through you. Stay strong. May the Force be with you...

We'll raise a glass to you too! Keep warm and happy, lol pippa x

I'm working toward getting some national recognition for this walk. Feb. 4th is Cancer Awareness Day here in the U.S. so I've been sending notices of Phil's trek to the "Big Guys" but to no avail as yet. If anyone has any advice or could add to this by e-mailing a letter, I've been concentrating on CBS, since Katie Couric's husband succumbed to colon cancer. There is also the NCCRA, the foundation that she co-founded, that has a website worthy of bombarding with e-mails. With $over $60,000 raised to date(yes, Phil, you'll have to insert the exchange amount) I think $100,000 is not an unrealistic goal if we can get a blip on a national outlet.Think ya'll can help?

Phil, I can picture the ice on everything in sight, including yourself, and the thoughts of, "This is spectacular!" vs. "I'm freezing my arse off!" and at the same time remembering the purpose of this trek and deriving renewed strength from that thought. Sometimes, I have to laugh aloud about some of the things you are experiencing because I have traveled by big rig with Jerry in all the areas you are traveling and can picture the concern of the simple country folk seeing a guy pushing a baby stroller in sub-freezing temperature wondering about the poor baby, concerned that some doped-up idiot father has kidnapped his kid, or worse, someone else's kid and, by golly, I'm gonna do the right thang by turning him in!
(That was not a typo, my correct grammar goes out the window when I picture the people you are encountering on your trek). Having been born in the Great State of TX, I feel I can laugh loudest when you talk about the racism of the man building a CHURCH, people generously throwing their money out the windows of automobiles, 911 calls, curiousity about the stroller, and skepticism when they offer rides and are turned down. It is all part of the "Texas Big Hair" (women) "Texas Big Head" (all Texans)mentality. If it didn't come from Texas it ain't worth much. I do hope the rest of your journey has less changes of weather as you get further south. And I hope you are in LA before the desert heats up to 120 degrees. That will happen sometime in the late spring to early summer. Looking forward to the end of this trip so we can meet you. Mary

I notice there is a town called Smiley in Texas, and checked to see if it's on your route; it's south of Austin somewhere west of Houston, so alas doesn't sound like it's anywhere near you.... but since I can also see Coffee City, Raisin, Oatmeal, Maude and Edna, who needs a Smiley!! Let's hope that Cash, a town somewhere in Hunt County, Dallas lives up to its name (it's vaguely somewhere near where you are now I think?)

We've been reading and hearing all your news from your Christmas break with the rest of the family with interest, and wish we'd been there too!! Now we hope to win a lifechanging amount of cash in the Picking up Pennies Free Prize Draw (2007)which we found that our household had been specially selected to enter. Hopefully, the main purpose of using the stroller is so that you can carry the huge weight of coins and notes safely. (I remember our first trip to the USA in about 1984, with you, and Jacqui, and whilst hitching from Miami up to Orlando, we were amazed at the huge numbers of pennies dropped at roadsides and may at the time have suggested that one of us should walk a bit further to see how many more we could find!) Is this what planted the seed of the idea to walk Coast to Coast perhaps?!)
In the past we've have donated something to a charity of your choice in lieu of Christmas presents, and are very pleased to do so again to add to your ever-increasing amount raised for AICR. It's great to see that there are so many really generous people who have read about you in the AICR articles and been inspired to raise so much more - that total so far is looking really awesome! Best Wishes.... from us all.

Happy New Year dear Phil! Ted and I continue to follow your progress and often remark that your blog is a book in the making! We are the lucky ones who have come across your path and enjoyed your company for however long. I would love to meet Pam sometime. Maybe you two can come visit Columbus when you are done with your trek. For now, though, may your spirit find cheer and comfort along the way as you journey. I love the image of your baby stroller helpmate to take a bit of the load. I will share that story with Isabella and Sophia who still enjoy letting Ben and Liz take them for a jog and just go along for the ride. Wish I could be there for just one day of your continued journey to push the stroller for you along side you and give you a day of slack packing again. Have you had any other offers for this?? Keep in touch.

Hi Phil, we've missed your blogs - so glad you are back `on air' and educating us about the delights of the trail.. so far the highlights for us have been your foray into fiction (Fort Knox) and the mixology.. (a cocktail worthy of its name) but each blog has its own charm. So keep the ideas coming! Message for Pam, we're sorry to hear about Callie- hope she heads back home soon.. perhaps the aroma of a big pot of your gumbo slow cooking by an open window might waft in her direction & act as guide home? Glad to hear you both had a fabulous New Year's eve on the beach in Miami (someone had to do it!) and let's hope that this is the beginning of a huge new adventure for 2007. Keep pushing the pram & clocking up the miles! lol pippa xxx

This is an arduous and admirable trip you are undertaking and I do hope Pam is able to generate some national attention to the cause of colon cancer. Holiday greetings to you. Glad all is well and that you will have some time in Florida with your family. The holidays are hard for all or most of us, I believe. Money, family, emotional or mental problems intrude and cause difficulty. This is often true regardless of our circumstances. God bless you for your efforts and fundraising. Blessings to you this season.

Just wanted to wish you a Happy Christmas and a perfect 2007.
Have visited you daily to read your blog and progress. Would love to be able to say something deeply profound, but I think that words can only look dull in the shadow of the journey that you are now on ... so many of us have great plans and so many of us have the cowardice to never see them through.
The other day, I dug out a novel I wrote some years ago but never got published and had to gulp back the splinter of emotion that was sticking in my throat when I thought of the promises that I had made to myself and then failed to keep: we all waste so much time working and being, rather than living and doing.
Your walk is one of those inspirational acts which will probably get subsumed by all the meaningless obligations that I (and many other like me) will face in 2007, so it is good to watch your progress. It's an example of a level of commitment that most of us will never achieve.
I read a piece of text some years ago which was a pastiche on Shakespeare's warning from Macbeth:
'Life's but a walking shadow; a poor player,
That struts and frets his hour upon the stage,
And then is heard no more: it is a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
Signifying nothing.'
The text said:
'We are actors, you and I, of that sometimes happy, sometimes sad, always tragic play called Life - where each we come to read the lines we each believe only we can read. Our parts, however large, however small, however humble are played by us and us alone: sometimes spontaneous, sometimes improvised, normally rehearsed - so that from the first spotlight to the final curtain we know exactly where it is we stand and fall and we look back upon that empty stage filled with no applause.'
Most of us lead a life without applause. We stumble along busily doing nothing important, so that we can save ourselves from having to do something important. You may not be able to hear it, but your life is full of applause right now from people who see in what you are doing a glimmer of the kind of person they once believed themselves to be.
Keep wondering what you'll do when you get to the shore on the west coast of the US and dip your toe in the Pacific. Will you go back? or will you go on to a new life, new career, new challenges?
Festive wishes
Jack

Phil, I noticed tonight there was no permanent picture of you posted on the home page of your blog. Just a suggestion, but a nice full-length shot of you in a walking stance would be a good way to keep people digging into the blog. It would also help in securing donated rooms/homes if people referred to your blog as a reference could quickly find a picture of the fellow they might be gonna host.

Lines on an auspicious birthday occasion (or 'Get your boots on Phil, you've miles still to go)
Today we're celebrating hard with Britain's walking bloke
He's reached another milestone among the Texas folk
But we're not talking miles here, or money that he's raised
We're here instead to marvel at how well Phil Goddard's aged.
I don't know if he's in his tent, or in a barn with hay
Or in a hotel packed with ducks on such an awesome day
Wherever he is I hope that Phil is full of birthday cheer
And toasting reaching 48 with an ice-cold mug of beer

I have JUST found your site for the first time and am gripped by 1)your vision 2) your energy 3)your writing 4)your photos. It is wonderful what you are doing. It is - to me - a real example of how it is not that suffering is itself in any way a gift, but that if that pain opens a door, there can ALSO be such opportunity. What I think of in bereavement as the I miss her AND I am walking foward (rather than the I miss her BUT I am walkning forward). I am not sure if this makes sense, but have been thinking about it as a dear friend has died recently of oral cancer.
Enough on that - I send you much support and often think of you, step by step moving onwards. Love from us all in Bristol, dear Phil, Christina XX

Remember your Boots in the River cocktail? I think I've just found another new one for you to try, courtesy of Jacqui's old haunt The Daily Express. If your walk should happen to take you through Las Vegas, you might like to drop in at the Double Down Saloon where they are serving a new breakfast-time pick-me-up cocktail: The Bacon Martini.
The rim of the glass is covered in bacon grease before adding the drink, which is made with bacon infused vodka and garnished with a rasher of dried bacon. The result? Slightly salty, say the experts, but "surprisingly nice". I wonder how that would go down with that other great morning-after cure - the full English Breakfast? I look forward to reading your review in the Coast to Coast foodie column!

Hello All, Thought I would amend the recipe for the gumbo as I was busy crocheting a scarf for Philip to keep him warm on his journey while dictating what was written. Yes, Pippa, it's best to have hearty bits of meat to give a hearty and filling quality to the soup and to Jacqui, the only mutant turkeys with extra wings and legs come from a special farm that I'm not at liberty to divulge the whereabouts of... lest they come for me and ... well, let's just drop that, shall we?
Anyway, to those who might be concerned about him, I'll be happy to report that Phil is well physically and mentally,( ok, family and friends, as well as he gets...) It was a nice respite for both of us, me from the sameness of New Orleans after "The Thing" and Phil from his walk. I'm very greatful to have such a beautiful daughter and son-in-law that opened their doors and their hearts to Phil. It's somewhat of a given that they take me in, being related and all. They didn't have to do so for Phil, but they did, even my grandson, R

Hi Phil- Thanks for the gumbo recipe Pam, presume the turkey carcass needs to still be covered in quite a bit of meat to make the turkey element of the dish live up to expectations? Or is it like a good martini.. put the gin & ice in the shaker & walk by the bottle of martini? i.e. a dream of turkey? which incidentally is the collective noun for unicorns too! Anyway, huge hugs Phil & speak to you soon, lol...

Hi Phil!
Just thought I'd check on you, see where you are and say "How are you doing?" I really hate I wasn't able to sit and talk to you again before I left New Orleans. I did leave you a message on your cell though. I have to say again how absolutely wonderful it was to have met you. As I follow your journey it occurs to me how liberating stepping out of one's own pain really is. Working at the LaFonds was way different from gutting houses which I actually liked because there was no way to screw that up-unlike mudding! OCD is a horrible thing! :-) What I enjoyed most was talking to Jack and Mazie and you. You three were so far and away from some of the familiar interactions I experienced. I thank you for that. You seem to be making good time and having a hugely rich experience along the way. I expected nothing less! Stay safe Phil and enjoy!

Phil, I met you today at our mental health clinic. You have inspired me to complete my thru-hike at the age of thirty for certain. I can only imagine how much adventure you have yet to experience. If time permits give a look at www.cloudland.net at tims journal and get to see another part of our state you will miss. It is truly "God's Country". Pleasant travels. I gave you twenty dollars. When you get to Venice beach take five of those and get you a cold black and tan and watch a Pacific sunset in your wet boots.

A long road ahead ... some words by Calvin Coolidge to keep your feet falling:
'Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not. Unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan 'press on' has solved and will always solve the problems of the human race.'

We were with you of course on the famous day when you got those boots in Lewes. I'll pop in there next time I'm down to say how you're doing. Actually you've walked the equivalent of several years' of normal use of boots, so they've done pretty well and deserved the decent burial you gave them. So presumably you're completing the walk in bare feet?

We think it's brilliant to have included time in your to help in New Orleans; wouldn't it have a huge effect if - as the firemen said - a lot more people just came down to help for a week - these people must be so grateful for the help.
Enjoy yourself - you're doing well!

I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. I wish everyone I know would take the time to read your blog and experience our country through your eyes.
You are so right that we are a country of people who are afraid of "what's out there". I think it comes from hearing the news on TV and it is so seldom about good things!! Bad news sells and there is plenty of it. So, we sit staring at the blue glow of the "telly" and build our fears. Then we say our prayers and try desperately to build our faith. Then we watch TV again. And so it goes.
The political situation here is not helping the situation at all. Wouldn't it be GRAND if we could have a candidate in 2008 who had walked across our country as you have? Ah, pipedreams...
I just want to thank you, Phil, for opening our eyes to the true fiber of our country. What consistently amazes me is that even when you have confronted some disconcerting situations, you come out on the other side of them still smiling, still positive, still optimistic and

Hi, Phil-
Sure wish we knew you were coming through town; we would have had you stay at our house! My husband and I bicycled across the country over 3 months in 1990. 4705 miles of this fabulous country. My sister has breast cancer, so on many levels I relate to you, empathsize with you and support you! You are an inspiration and a man that I'm sure Jayne would be very proud of...Travel safely knowing life is indeed a journey, not a destination!
Warmly,

Hey, my wife and I just had time to check out your website and blog, I'm the guy that lettered your sweatshirt in Humboldt, when I took your money I was just conducting business and then my heart "kicked in" and I realized what I had done. That is why I found you and returned the money. We would all be better if we "thought" with our hearts a little more often. Wish we could have talked more. Your story is truly inspiring and heartwarming. Both our families have been touched with cancer. We wish you the best of luck and we will daily keep up with you. God be with you.

Phil, I do love beginning my day (after dog walks, packing lunches, ironing shirts etc)reading of your adventures.
All the people you speak of are reminders of what a wonderful country we live in and how many good souls there are in our lives! By the by, here a vicarage is the church house or the parish rectory. In the 30?s, 40?s, & 50?s
The pastor or lead minister would often host an afternoon tea or even a weekly meal, with the elders, special guests or even a visiting priest, monsignor or perhaps bishop.
Enjoy and be Well!

Hi Phil
Thought you might like to know how your allotment is doing. I've had all sorts from it: lettuce, spinach, tomatoes, black beans, peas, etc etc plus three bunches of grapes and loads and load the most beautiful scented roses. The recent rain has produced another flush of blooms and they are adorning my dining table. The bit in the times has been posted on the noticeboard so everybody knows where you are and what you are going. Keep going. It's been great looking after the allotment and I shall miss it when you're back.

Hi Phil - I work with AICR on their fundraising campaigns and I was talking to Jack today about your walk. Sounds tiring! Especially when hounded by green-van-men looking for drugs. Just wanted you to know that here in our office in Cheltenham (people here also quite paranoid - so not just a Kentucky thing) we think you're fantastic. You might already know from Jack that we're preparing an appeal to go to AICR supporters featuring your walk - we're hoping that it's going to raise loads of money (and probably win you loads of new fans too with any luck). In the meantime, we'll be thinking of you.
All the very best for now

Hello Phil,
I just arrived home from work to a noticeably emptier home. We were quite sad to see you depart today, however we know it is important for you to get back on the move. It was definitely our pleasure to have you in our home for the last couple of nights. When asked if they had anything to say to you, Isabella and Sophia could not comment, because their mouths were stuffed too full of Hob Nobs to say anything that made sense. Looking forward to trying Mushy Peas, and tracking your daily progress. What you are doing is absolutely amazing. You will remain in our thoughts and prayers, and hopefully we can meet again one day. Peace.

I admire your journey and that you were so ready to raise money for a cause. My father rode his bike, at age 70, from Oregon to Chicago. He intended to go to Delaware--coast to coast, but the first year decided to end his trip short. The next summer, he rode to Delaware from Chicago, completing the tour. I charted his trip as he went along, and he made many friends along the way, some of them lasting still. He still rides, at age 80 now. He just made a trip from Cleveland to Pittsburgh. He's always wanted to do the walk you are doing. I only hope that I can have the same kind of courage as you and him in the future. I hope that offers some inspiration. I am sure you will succeed, and I wish you all the luck in the life you shape for yourself after your journey.

Your daily entries are always amusing no matter if they are trivial...a sign of a good writer. I know I am looking forward to the book of your journey of your heart and this land. Can you tell us which way you're headed now for those of us tracking you on the map? M.

Phil-
I emailed my husband(after I read the article on your trip and visited your website).
You should delight in that your efforts will not only help Cancer research and patients, but also serve to remind so many others how precious are things like: the smallest bits of time, our family, friends and loved ones, and simple acts of care and kindness.
We will be making a donation of money when my better half gets home (I wanted it to be something we did together).
I am hoping you will also be supported and lfted up by the prayers and lots of good thoughts
being sent your way! I'm sure Jayne is watching over you and is very honored and proud!
Is there someplace to find the route you are taking (did I miss it?) I'd like to see if I can connet you with family or friends along the way.
Be well.
Peace
Brigid

Hi Phil,
I've just come across your story & think what you're doing is superb. I work for Justgiving, so i get all the feeds from where our company name is mentionned in the press. I really enjoyed hearing about your work, i'll keep checking in from time to time. Just wanted to say fair play - an amazing effort and very inspiring. Good luck for the rest of the walk. All the very best,
James
P.S. If you need anything from Justgiving please let me know

To all of the rest of "Phil's Phriends", We're putting him up tonight so he can "slackpack" out of the Cincinnati area. He is truly an English Gentleman well spoken, witty, intelligent, and a grand listener. A delightful houseguest to be sure. Caribeth, it is fabulous that your daughter will be able to put him up in Louisville! I hope he can call ahead so he can also Slackpack in and out of Louisville.

Dear Phil,
Good luck with your walk! I am writing a book about people who return to positive, productive living after traumatic events such as illness or loss of a loved one. This will be my second book. My first one, titled, "Song of Joy" will be out by the end of the year. It is about my recovery from sorrow after the suicide of my teenage daughter. I would love to interview you and include your story in my next book. Could I possibly catch you along the way somewhere? I'll treat you to the meal of your choice, breakfast, lunch, or dinner. I'm going to go ahead and make a contribution to your cause. I hope to hear from you soon. Again, best of luck, and God bless!

Hi Phil! We were beginning to get concerned about you because I haven't had a reply to my email or voice mail. But then I finally found your blog! I warned you I'm like a mother hen!! Good to see you are progressing well! Our picture looks good--I still think Steve should have worn longer pants! ;-))
Your blogs and maps are amazing!
Take care!

Hey Phil..the updates on your blog are great! Where are you now. Email me or call as soon as you get a chance. Our daughter Elizabeth and her family would enjoy having you in their home in Louisville KY when you arrive! Ben, her husband is a disc jockey at a local radio station. Maybe some publicity could be generated through his work at WDJX! Thinking of you and hope the road rises to meet you today!! Peace.

Well done Phil, you are doing great. Menzies just donated £1,000 to AICR on your behalf. Hope this helps to put a spring in your step for a wee while. Jayne would be very proud of you.
Good luck.

Great website - but I think you should have a recipe of the day slot on it too after the experience with the bananas. I'm sure there's plenty you can do with the roadkill!
