AICR, along with the children’s charity ‘Wellchild’, was chosen by the staff of Standard Life to be their Charity of the Year in 2006. AICR played an important role in keeping staff motivated as they embarked on a year full of fundraising activities which included a talent show, charity auction, a Gala film presentation, as well as numerous quiz nights and in- house raffles.

This giant easter egg was raffled for AICR funds.

We took the AICR roadshow to several of Standard Life’s offices and departments where we not only talked about the research projects we were funding at that time, but also discussed the importance of cancer awareness. We soon ran out of our information leaflets as we discussed the importance of being breast aware, caring for our skin in the sun, smoking cessation, prostate cancer and healthy eating. We arranged a number of visits to one of our funded research projects so that staff of Standard Life could see at first hand the work of scientists.

These superb fundraising efforts were rewarded by having every £ raised by the staff, matched by the company. AICR received the magnificent sum of £343,825.37 are we are indebted to Standard Life for this support which funded 2 complete research projects.
