"The Winchell Riots" played a very special concert on Friday 23rd January in their home city of Oxford. The Guardian newspaper said the following about the band, "They might be literate, articulate types, but they're intense...The economy of Snow Patrol meets the intensity of Sigur Ros". Not only were they playing at the O2 Academy as part of a British tour, but the concert was broadcast live on the internet with the band also playing in the virtual world of Second Life at the same time.
The Second Life gig was a way for the band to highlight the work of AICR and for us to say a big "thank you" to our many supporters in the virtual world.

The Winchell Riots front man Phil McMinn added, "We'd been aware of the great work AICR had been doing for some time and wanted to get the message out to our fan base that the cutting edge projects they fund need everyone's support. Also, by broadcasting the concert live on the internet, it gave our fans who couldn't make it along to the gig the chance to be there in spirit."
