AICR awards grants to support fundamental or translational research into the causes, mechanisms, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of cancer. We do not support clinical research.  We will consider applications that include some clinical research in a project which is mostly basic or translational.  However, completely clinical applications, such as intervention studies, clinical trials or health care delivery research, are beyond the remit of AICR.  Before submitting applications that include clinical research, potential applicants are strongly encouraged to contact AICR for advice. We accept applications from non-profit research institutions anywhere in the world.  Projects are for a maximum of three years and can include funding for research staff (post doctoral and/or PhD students), consumables, essential items of equipment and travel.

Applications are assessed by our Scientific Advisory Committee that meets twice a year.  Click here to find out more about how to apply for a grant.

By funding only the best science, we ensure that we have the highest chance of making significant progress.  Applications for funding are peer reviewed by our Scientific Advisory Committee and many are also sent to two experts in the field for external review.
