This page explains how the Association for International Cancer Research (AICR) uses any information you give to us, and the ways in which we protect your privacy.

The Data Protection Act

Under the Data Protection Act, we have a legal duty to protect any information we collect from you. We use leading technologies and encryption software to safeguard your data, and keep strict security standards to prevent any unauthorised access to it. We do not pass on your details to any third party.

What information do we collect?

We collect five kinds of information from visitors to www.aicr.org.uk  - Donation information, Competition information, Registration information, Feedback (through emails) and site usage information, from log files.

1. Donation information

  • When you make a donation we collect your name, postal address, email address and your credit / debit card details, or bank account details for direct debits. For Textaid we collect your mobile phone number. We store this information securely and it is only used to process your donation. 

2. Competition information

  • When we run an online competition we collect your name and email address.

3. Registration information

  • When you opt-in to receive further information on our work, projects or competitions, we will subscribe you to our e-Newsletter. For this purpose we collect your name and email address.

4. Feedback

  • When you send us an email, we collect your name and email address.

5 Site usage information

  • Our site does not use Cookies. Cookies are pieces of data that are often created when you visit a website, and which are stored in the cookie directory of your computer.

  • Log files allow us to record visitors' use of the site. We analyse log file information from all our visitors, which we use to make changes to the layout of the site and to the information in it, based on the way that visitors move around it. Log files do not contain any personal information and they are not used to identify any individual patterns of use of the site.

What happens when I link to another site?

www.aicr.org.uk contains links to other websites. This privacy policy applies only to our site, so you should always be aware when you are moving to another site and read the privacy statement of any site which collects personal information.

We do not pass on any personal information you have given us to any other site.

How does AICR use the data collected?

We use the data to help us understand more about how the site is used and to be able to send you information that may be of interest to you. Such information will only be sent to you if you choose to opt-in.

Who is collecting your information?

When you are in the AICR website and are asked for personal information, you are sharing that information with AICR alone, unless stated otherwise. For example, when you are using our secure online donation pages, you are going through to WorldPay plc who process donations on our behalf. It is clear when you are connecting to the WorldPay website.
