London to Gibraltar Cycle

This July, Dan Howie, Rory Maxwell-Scott, and Tom Griffiths (aka the steam team) cycled from London all the way to Gibraltar. The guys are all 24 years of age and met while studying at Oxford Brooks University. This was new territory for them all as none of them are experienced cyclists however they all lead active, fit and healthy lifestyles so were ready to take on the challenge.

They departed on Monday 13th July and managed to complete the trip in 12 days! They managed to clock up a total of 1381 miles and averaged 115 miles a day so they were extremely pleased with how it went! 

Dan said:  "At university one of our mates battled with cancer and, more recently, my Dad had prostate cancer.  Thankfully both our friend, and my Dad, pulled through but it really brought home the need to invest in research into the disease."

Rory and Tom added:  "Doing something like this was a real challenge for all of us, particularly when it came to soaring sauna like temperatures in Spain.  We really wanted to complete the trip in 14 days but quite a few folk said this would be impossible.  In fact, we did it in 12 days, averaging 115 miles a day!  We were delighted and know the money will help make a difference."
