In the Autumn of 2005, The Association for International Cancer Research joined forces with authors from Scotland, the USA and Canada to raise money for cancer research projects worldwide.
Four authors whose families had been touched by cancer gave away their work free of charge from Halloween onwards in a weekly e-serial format.
William Meikle from Kinross, Scotland together with fellow authors Mike McBride and Karen Koehler from the USA and Steve Zinger from Canada each serialised one of their horror novels, a chapter per week for 14 weeks. The chapters were distributed in interactive e-zine format via Topica. At the conclusion, a total of 4 horror novels had been distributed; one from each author.
In addition to providing the novels free of charge, prizes were up for grabs, including free books and gothic clothing from various sponsors.
In return for receiving the novels, subscribers were asked to consider making a donation to the Association for International Cancer Research. AICR is currently funding research projects in all 3 countries.
