So Who is the Mighty Brighty?

The Mighty Brighty A.K.A Mr David Bright. He’s a twenty-something year old lad originally from Clacton-on-sea, who had a crazy idea to run the 2010 London Marthon. He now resides in Colchester where he trained to become the awe inspiring ‘Mighty Brighty’. Here is his story...
“Back in October I ran the Royal Parks Half Marathon on behalf of a male cancer charity; after personally being affected by it myself. Now I’m back and I’ve manned up. Now it’s time for a FULL marathon. The London Marathon!
I’m running for a cancer charity, namely The Association for International Cancer Research (AICR), which funds cutting edge research into the causes of cancer and the prevention of cancer. Throughout your lifetime, it is likely that you will be touched by cancer in some way. It’s certainly been this way for me. Along with myself, both my parents have been unfortunate enough to be touched by cancer and in January 2007 my Uncle Kevin lost his fight with it. So for me to run for a general cancer research charity, rather than a male cancer charity was the next logical step.
I have a mountain to climb training wise. But the training I can handle myself. The other hurdle I have to overcome is raising money for this cause. For this, I need your help! AICR have set a target of £1600 so please please PLEASE dig deep for whatever you can. I assure you, that after the London Marathon, I’ll hang up my money raising hat….
Thank you and God bless”
Online donations can still be made securely at www.justgiving.com/runbrightyrun or you can donate on the AICR website.
David’s wife, Liz, suggested the slogan ‘Mighty Brighty’ as a possible catchphrase for David’s running vest. This instigated a chain of inspiration and ended up with Gary, David's friend, writing a song entitled ‘Mighty Brighty’. It took him 10 minutes to write, and a few hours to record.
