Club Arnage is a group of motor racing enthusiasts with a particular love of the Le Mans 24 hour race. Every year they pitch their tents at the famous road circuit in France and enjoy a week of high speed thrills leading up to the race which last year was held on the weekend of 11th / 12th / 13th June 2008. One of the club traditions is the charity auction in which members bid for Le Mans related items such as steering wheels from previous year's participants and signed race memorabilia. In 2007 the auction raised an amazing £732.32 for AICR. However in 2008 the auction was even more successful and they raised a staggering £2001!
This is why they chose to raise money for AICR "When we put the Charity Fund together our members were polled to choose the two permanent charities we would support. Nominations for cancer related charities were highest. Combining that with the fact that our members span the globe with members from the UK, Netherlands, USA, France, Norway, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, and Canada to name just a few it made sense for us to look for a global cancer charity. And so we came to the AICR whose global ethic fitted with our membership base."
Pictured is club member Mike Connell handing over the cheque to AICR's e-Commerce Manager Jack Cumming. Mike drove the cheque all the way from Le Mans to the AICR offices in St. Andrews.

We would like to thank Mike and his family for dropping in to see the work we do and also send our best wishes to all of the Club Arnage members who were so generous in bidding for items in the auction.
On the night the auction fell between performances by The Flying Baguettes and Vinnie’s Vice. JPC our compare handled proceedings well and did a superb job of managing the crowd. Marius was our lovely assistant and Doris took care of the money. The auction started with a snap auction of 10 x RS Spyder lanyards going for €10 each. They were gone within minutes and everything flowed from there. The Corvette wheel went for the highest price of the night at €625. Along with the Spyker canvas prints (€500) and the Spyker front wing (€250) it was one of the top sellers of the night.
