Blogathon

For the uninitiated, the Blogathon is a 24 hour marathon carried out by "Bloggers" around the world.

Blogging is the art of keeping a weblog - web pages written by people who wish to share their thoughts and let others know what is happening in their lives. It has been described as the 21st century equivalent of keeping a diary, with the difference that it can be accessed by millions of people all over the world.

During the Blogathon thousands of Bloggers were sponsored to stay up for 24 hours adding a new entry to their weblog every 30 minutes. The Association for International Cancer Research was once more one of the suggested charities chosen to benefit from their efforts. We have been involved since the Blogathon took place in 2003 and are equally delighted to be involved again this year. Bloggers from around the world raised a substantial amount of money which will help to fund our cutting edge research. Many thanks to all the brave people who took part on our behalf!

Last years event took place on July 28th 2007. To find out more about the Blogathon and how you can get involved next time, follow this link - Blogathon.

AICR has been on social networking site 'Twitter' for a few years now but only recently has the site gone commercially main stream. If you are unfamiliar with Twitter it "is a service for friends, family, and co-workers to communicate and stay connected through the exchange of quick, frequent answers to one simple question: What are you doing?"

Sign up to Twitter today and follow AICR's updates.
